My Go To Place

March 2019

There is a place in my mind I go, to where I want to be when I am stressed, or just need a break. It’s a beach with white soft sand and the water is just the right shade of blue. I can see it clearly because I am focused on being there. Actually I've been there many times - to places like South Beach in Miami, or the Bahamas, but since I can't jump on a plane, or drive there when I'm anxious or upset. I just take a few minutes to recollect and meditate on those beautiful places in my mind. The water is so refreshing and cool when you first get in, but after a couple of minutes it's oh so warm.

I picture myself just taking a walk along the edge where the sand is light and soft. Then I see myself getting in a beach chair and listening to a nice song like The Isley’s Summer Breeze and enjoying God’s beautiful creation. I don't have anything to do, no where I have to be, no one needs anything from me. I am truly at peace and free.

In Matthew 11:28-29 Jesus says, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Although my go to place is comforting, I know I will have to return to the realities of my life. The only place that's truly safe for rest is in my Saviour Jesus Christ. He can conquer all of my fears and give me the peace within myself that I'm looking for in the physical place I visualize. Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

I have confidence in Him because I trust His Word, so I must take heed to it to be actively praying and talking to Jesus about the issues of my life because I know He cares.

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7
